Matraz Premium Craft Gin

Matraz Gin is an amazing addition to the world of premium spirits! We're so proud to say they have won five industry medals just a few months after its recent launch in July 2024! This is a testament to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle. All that hard work has clearly paid off, and these accolades are proof of that!

Based in Madrid, the distillery is owned by the Lózar family who have a background in hospitality. But let's be clear, this is Adolfo’s baby and aside from running the distillery he has put his heart and soul into perfecting Matraz which he spent seven years developing. In fact, he joked that the name should have been resilience, as it was only two years ago he felt he found the perfect recipe.

They source the grains and make the alcohol onsite, a strategy that many whiskey producers adopt, emphasizing its quality. Using a five-distillation process that really brings out the best of the 13  botanicals, Juniper, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Lemon Verbena, Sage, Lemon Grass, Coriander, Angelica Root, Lemon Peel, Heather, Almond, Orange Peel, Orange Blossom. This is a great example of commitment and a desire to innovate within the gin market.

Matraz, London Dry Gin, is a masterfully crafted spirit that beautifully merges artistry and flavor. Whether enjoyed neat, in a classic cocktail, or with tonic, it promises an elevated drinking experience.

The handcrafted  bottles are a real treat with its own unique charm,  styling 3 subtle different art works as part of the labelling. It's like a little piece of history, a nod to Adolfo's parents who wanted to keep the bottle in the family. The years of hard work and dedication to achieve the perfect blend were always in the lab-style flasks – hence the name, Matraz, which means flask in English.

The distillery produces around 20,000 bottles a year, made in batches of 2000 in a copper still, which they have named Arnold.

Have a closer look at the neck of the bottle, on the label you will see the number of bottles in the batch and what the bottle number is. It's almost so small you could miss it! What number bottle do you have?
